Yesterday HP sent me a box including a printer, black and colored cartridges for the printer, and a Mogo Mousex54(All I ordered). Today I got another box with a mogo mousex54 and printer cartridges. I didn't order these, is it illegal to keep these items and not notify HP?

It is not illegal in anyway, it is HP's mistake. However, people's morals might or might not tell them to send it back. It's your choice.

I'd say keep it but that's just me. HP made a mistake, not you...

Yep, it's completely legal to keep something mailed to you even if it was by mistake. The minute it arrived in your mail it became your property.

Of course those morals start getting in the way and would probably make me at least contact HP about the mistake. They will probably tell you to keep them anyways rather than try to find whatever mistake that had them ship to you twice.

Legally it's a gift. I got lucky when I bought my phone from Sprint and they sent me two. Still haven't opened the other one, but just in case my phone bricks, I have a spare.

Did you check to see if you'd been billed for them before listing on EBay?

If you knowingly receive goods you haven't paid for is that not wrong. Its the same as if a grocery clerk gives you too much money back on accident.

A Consumers’ Guide To Purchasing Goods, Services and Credit

If you receive unordered goods you are not required to pay for them. If details are available, you should notify the sender that you have received the goods and advise how the goods can be collected. You should take reasonable care of the goods while they are in your possession. If the company has not taken action to recover the goods within one month of your written notice, or within three months of you having received the goods, whichever comes first, the goods become your property.

thats the best way to do it.
however i dont think its a big deal because its coming from a big corporation.
if my friend sent me double by accident, i would have told him immediately.
check to see if u got billed twice.... maybe you doubled clicked "confirm" or something

Keep it if you're going to use it. Give it back if you have no use for it.
