Im getting this model in a few days, is it any good? its one of those from the zv6000 series this is my first laptop so i dont know much, just picked the first i could get with the amd 64 cpu.

I was wondering whats the difference between the DVD +R and the DVD -R, it really confuses me. Please dont give me links to follow i never just get it ive searched google but theres never a clear answer.

    Thans

Overall, its a good laptop. Its a desktop replacement, its pretty heavy and has okay battery life but is strong on performance and can play games decently.

    Thanks ;)

You have one of these? does it use the Harmon Kardon speakers as the zv5000, because in a few pictures on the site i bought it at had the "Harmon Kardon" label, but i beleive it was the zv5000 as i checked it too, but it did say zv6065ea pictures(??).

Well in short terms, they are just different formats. I have found that most DVD players are more compatible with DVD-R and and most computers are more compatible with DVD-R as well. However, DVD+R is the best option for any type of data other than DVD video. If you want to backup your files go with the DVD+R format, and if you want to Backup your DVDs (Not copy someone else's DVDs, it is illegal to copy a DVD you dont own) then go with the DVD-R format. The best DVD-R brand disks imo are Ritek/RiData and Taiyo Yuden. I have only used cheap DVD+Rs and i definately dont reccomend them, the brand i have used is DYNEX. They work, but not very good.

    Hope this answers your questions.

Up until now, ALL models of zv6000 series have had generic speakers & WILL NOT say Harmon/Kardon in the lower left....However, recently ALL US models have been shipped with Altec-Lansing speakers & contain a different sound card AND have a little badge on the lower left of the notebook. I'm not sure, however, which you'll receive since it's the EA version.

Both the Harman Kardon and Atlec Lansing speakers are better than most of the laptop speakers out there, most will be plenty satisfied with them.

Taiyo Yuden makes the some of the if not best rewritable disks out there but I think are only available in Japan right? Anyone know?

the power adaptor is dual voltage. there is an easy way to check.

turn over the adaptor look for the input voltage figures, and they shoud say 100-240v...

so the adaptor will work any where... :)
