    Hi all,

    I am about to purchase one of these bad boy Envy 14s and just wondering if someone can confirm if I can connect this laptop to my AMP and get 5.1 surround sound via HDMI?

    I will be playing mkvs of BDs I own and will be encoded in DD5.1 or DTS...

    yes, the HDMI port outputs 5.1 dolby digital as well as DTS audio. It's HDMI 1.3, which I believe also supports 7.1 Dolby TrueHD
