All HP DV4000t owners and Compaq V4000t owners, especially ones who are finding they are having low frames per second in games, check this out.
Below is a checklist that everyone should follow if they own the above laptops.
Never download the official HP drivers. The HP ATI X700 drivers are terrible. Download the newest drivers at omegadrivers.net and you'll solve so many problems it's crazy. No special Mobility drivers needed. No ATI Mod Tool needed.
Make sure you set your Powerplay options to high performance when your running off AC Power and high battery for when you are running off your battery.
Download Notebook Hardware Control (google it) and make sure to enable Max Performance for when your are running off AC Power and Dynamic Switching for when you are running off your battery.
That's it! Happy gaming!

I have a v4000t and I must say that I can't agree with you on a number of points.
-
While I'm not familiar about the problem you brought up, I am familiar with a problem of the original, official HP/Compaq drivers giving gamers a very low FPS in games (though surprisingly not in 3DMark).
-
i still have all the stock drivers it came out of the box and i get excellent FPS in half life 2, css and dod:s i get at least 70-110 fps so i dont know what is the problem there
-
The official drivers available online only give me about 50 points lower in 3dmark 05 compared to 6.1 omega. The difference in games I play is unnoticable.
I had no issues with standby with omega drivers. Only the official ATI drivers gave me problems with the computer not coming out of standby. -
Please backup your assertions with some kind of proof or evidence. It's not that I want to disprove you, but making claims without backing them up reasonably isn't too helpful. -
yeah, there is an odd compatibilty issue with catalyst drivers if it isnt modded by HP resulting in unwanted problems like stanby issues and whatnot. If it isnt important to you then get the catalyst but i would not recomend it if you pack up and move around a lot.
Important Info for all DV4000t/V4000t Owners
