I'm customizing a compaq v3000z and i see an option for "IMPRINT Finish + Microphone + QuickPlay." It dosen't seem like it would be worth $38 for what it is. I don't care about having a mic and quickplay dosen't sound like a lot but I thought I would get some opinions before I decided for/against it.

I dont like the imprint finish, i think its too flashy and it shows EVERY fingerprint on it. But thats just my opinion-

Quickplay is a feature that HP has that allows you to watch DVD's, listen to music, etc. without actually having to boot up your computer. It's a handy feature if you like to watch movies and listen to music on your laptop alot.

Basically you won't have to boot up your computer if you want to watch a movie on the plane, road, etc. It also works with music, but its really not much more than that. As for the imprint finish, its hard to find a slicker looking laptop out there for the price range than one with the imprint finish, and the mic is always a handy option. Skype, messenging programs, and games can all use voice features, as well as being able to use other voice features on the OS. I think that for $38 it is a steal, but thats just me.

Personally I don't care much about the way my laptop looks, but if you want a flashy impression, the imprint finish is very nice looking. It is also scratch resistant, and although fingerprints do collect on it, they can be wiped off easily.

I'm not much for flash, but I like duability as I'm pretty rough on everything I own.

have you seen a v3000z without the imprint? i saw the dv2000 w/o imprint finish and the surface looks weird to me. it may not be a fingerprint haven but it attracts more dust and other dirt.... the surface is rough and looks cheap for me

go to your nearest computer store and check it out.

    ... just my 2 cents

is imprint finish the same as the piano finish? or is piano finish just glossy black?

The imprint finish incorporates the piano black finish and the wave like design which is coated with a thin clear(transparent) layer of material.
