Seing as HP does not have the audio drivers for this specific model and XP, I`m wondering if by any change, one might upload the audio drivers, or all of them ...somewere...
I would be in your debt, since this is a favour to a good friend of mine...
Tried HP chat, and emailed them 3 days ago, still nothing...

    Can't he go to > fnkey+esc >System Information >Advanced >Software Environment >Signed Drivers or > fnkey+esc >System Information >Advanced >Components >Sound device
Mine are Realtek High Definition Audio Yes MEDIA 6.0.1.5548 15/01/2008 Realtek oem71.inf RTKVHDA.sys HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0268&SUBSYS_103C30CC&REV_1000\4&257318AE&0&0001
If I needed drivers I'd now go to Realtek and look for 6.0.1.5548 released on 15/01/2008 and search for any drivers released after this date or these if there were none newer.
I updated drivers for a desktop not to long ago and the Realtek drivers at the time seemed to be 1 driver fits all for your O/S.

Check the sticky eleron, theyve uploaded all the XP driver packs.

You just have to look for the right one.

What manufacturer is the audio card?

Be aware that XP audio drivers will loose some functionality. I believe it was either no mic or headphone jack.
