Is there a way to increase the dedicated system memory for the Mobility Radeon 5830? In DXDiag it shows that my Approx. Total Memory is 749mb. In CPU-Z it says 1024mb. I have 8gb of system memory and want to increase the total memory my system shares with the video card. Is that possible? Also on another note im looking to upgrade my HDD. Currently I have the base 500gb 7200RPM HDD. If I were to get a 40gb SSD what other HDD could I get to use for other programs, games, storage, etc?

Pretty sure it's not possible with the Envy. Any which way, your system memory is probably much slower than your graphics ram.
-
I would suggest you update your copy of DirectX. I have the 4830, which has 1GB of dedicated memory as does your 5830. My version of DXDiag is showing 3826MB of approx. total memory. Which would suggest you either have a problem with your DirectX or you've got a problem with your DDR3 memory sticks. Might be worth re-seating them (I'm making the assumption you upgraded your system memory)
Of course it could be you've reinstalled windows and used the 32bit version which would also give this sort of result. -

Here's the DxDiag for my system. I supposedly have the newest drivers.

I don't see anything wrong with it.
It says you ahve a gig of dedicated graphics memory (on the card), and 3.8 gigs of shared system memory.
That comes to a total of 4.8GB of graphics memory.
Not sure why that display memory is reporting 750MB.
