I wanted to create a topic to collect information about HP displays... Feel free to add...

    HP's Bright View
    What is it?
HP's Bright View is the name for their glossy coating on their LCDs. This creates a more vivid and bright image. However, this makes the display prone to glares. When looking at and customizing HP notebooks, if the display specification does not list Bright View, it most likely is not Bright View. An exception is in newspaper advertisements, which generally only list the screen size.

    Ultra Bright View?
Ultra Bright View means the display has 2 backlights, delivering extreme brightness, with the cost of several minutes of battery life.

    Dead Pixels
HP requires your LCD to have 7 of a single type of dead pixel (7 stuck or 7 dead), or 9 total defective pixels in order to have a warranty repair. (Thanks to abaxter's dead pixel guide)

    Display Brands
There are several display brands. To check your brand, go to Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Monitors. There, you can see the brand of your monitor. Many say that the brand QDS (Quanta) has the best looking displays.

Screen Types for most sizes (Including Business Models)
    Widescreen
    12.1": WXGA

    14",: WXGA, WXGA Bright View

    14.1":WXGA, WXGA Bright View, WXGA+

15.4": WXGA, WXGA Bright View, WSXGA+, WUXGA

    17": WXGA+, WXGA+ Bright View, WXGA+ Ultra Bright View, WSXGA+, WSXGA+ Bright View, WUXGA

    Standard
    12.1": XGA

    14": XGA

    14.1": XGA, SXGA+

15": XGA, XGA Bright View, SXGA+

Note that the more obscure combinations are found in the business notebooks (Ex: WUXGA 15.4" is the HP Compaq nw8440).

    Graphics Cards
HP generally, for some reason, tends to give Intel Notebooks better graphics. This can be seen below...

    Widescreen
    12.1" GMA 950

14", 14.1": ATi XPress 200M (AMD), Intel GMA 950 (Intel), nVidia GeForce GO 7200 (Intel), ATi X1300 (Intel), nVidia GeForce GO 6150 (AMD)

15.4": ATi X200M (AMD), Intel GMA 950 (Intel), nVidia GeForce GO 7200 (AMD), nVidia GeForce GO 7400 (Intel), ATi X1600, ATi FireGL V5200

17": ATi X1600 (Intel), nVidia Quadro FX 1500M (Intel), nVidia GeForce GO 7600 (both), ATi X200M (AMD)

    Standard
    12": Intel GMA900/950 (Intel)

    14", 14.1": Intel GMA900/950 (Intel), ATi X300 (Intel)

15": ATi X300 (AMD), ATi X1150 (AMD), Intel GMA900/950 (Intel)

    Rumors
It is rumored that some Compaqs have better displays than HP, but has not been proven.

It is rumored that the nx9420/nw9440 have an MXM Type III slot...

1: Don't see the key spec's you are talking about in your "sig".

2: How about posting said specs.... in the BODY of your post instead of relying on a "sig"..... as ALLOT of boards "strip" out "sigs" when archiving info... and/or search engines don't "see" sigs.

Addtionally.. when you buy a new lappy, and change your sig, the sig is changed across all your posts on allot of boards which pretty much makes all your posts / data useless.

In a nutshell posting the data within the BODY of the post itself ties in any info you post with that model number.
