I already purchased the notebook in my sig (waiting for it) but I do like the look of the dv6500t, and it is also a bit cheaper. Anyone have any opinions on this? I might consider canceling it before it ships.

What would you personally recommend? I would like a good video card, but it doesn't have to be super high end. I mean, if it can play WoW and the Sims and maybe SC2 when it comes out, I'll be content. I do prefer the aesthetic look of the HP, but I think Dell has a better warranty deal, and I dig the customizable covers.

Although I am not a fan of Dell, I always found their customizability/specs to be superior to HP's. On the dv6500t, the max screen resolution you can get is 1280X800, whereas with Dell Inspiron 1520, you can get a nice 1440x900 screen resolution. Before the remodeling, Dell Inspirons had terrible, I mean HORRIBLE screen quality. I haven't heard any complaints about the screen for the new line ups, so that's good a plus. HP dv6500t has a lot of problems right now as well, especially the webcam, mic driver issues. I would definitely give the new Dell a shot. If you can't stand it for whatever reason, try the HP dv6500t. A lot of people complain here, but some of those issues come from user's own mistakes. I have the dv6000t and I've had it for almost a year now (bought it last september) and it's running perfectly fine. I have 0 driver issues (I use standard drivers that came with my laptop) and just overall, I am very satisfied with HP. HP's feels a little bit better than Dell but it's not that big of a difference. The glossy case is cool for only a day and once it starts collecting dust, it looks dirty and cleaning is seriously annoying. Some people even refer it to as the "fingerprint magnet." Anyways, good luck and let me know if you have further questions about dv6x00 series.

My family owns both. The 1520 feels way more studier and solid.. little plastic flexing vs the lighter 6500t. For hp, there's a sale for 2GB 75% off with 50% off for the 8400 card.. this cost me less than my bro's dell although I did have APP dfiscount. I also bought the Skinit cover for my hp to customize.. the breaking point for me was the HDMI port.. I've hooked up my comp to 22" monitor which serves my display needs well. Whatever ur needs are man.

ATR90 - don't get me started on the number of totally stupid, pointless and duplicate threads that exist in this place...

It seems that Pwnstar has a very wavery mindset. The same thread in dell, sony, hp. Come on you already ordered the dell 1520 and it's shipped. First open the box and try the new notebook and then post threads.

    Stay focussed.

I have owned the HP dv6500t and just returned it to order my 1520.

Keep in mind this is all $200 less than the HP I got (but for me, the sleek sexy look of the dv6500t might have been worth $200 lol):
    -anti-glare screen
    -8600M GT, like 2 8400M GS's
    -DOUBLE HDD space (160GB @ 7200RPM), and u can't even get 7.2kRPM from HP
-same Intel 3945ABG wifi, not the cheap 1390 option DELL defaults to
-DELL's 6-cell std batt is like 58whr, whereas the HP's HI-CAPACITY (the one I got) one is about 56.
-i got the 6+9 (standard 6 cell AND extra 9-cell battery) option

    For $200 LESS! Enough said.

Yes, I am gonna just wait till I get the 1520. By the way, the original post was before my order was shipped. Also, most people don't read all 3 forums and I wanted more feed back so I thought I'd post on all 3. And yes, I do have a very "wavery" mindset, I simply cannot make up my mind. But I have made up my mind to see how the 1520 is before I harass you guys some more. :D

Same here too. I ordered 3 notebooks in the past 3 months. I returned 2 of them back. I am now waiting for my vostro.

    Here's the story

HP -dv6000t (looked cool) - returned it bacause of high pitch noise.

Sony Vaio - FZ190 (looked super cool) - same high pitch noise and returned it.

Hoping for a better vostro (is not sleek) now.
