    Hello,
My friend gave me the intel centrino 6200 wifi card so I tried to replace my intel 5100. When starting the computer the BIOS does not recognize the card and does not let me boot.

I have found somewhere that laptop manufactures block the install of other wifi cards that are different than the original.

Is there a way around it?

    Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no easy way around it. It's called whitelisting. To get around it, you would have to modify the BIOS and adding the 6200 to it or replacing the 5100 with 6200.
