I just got This campaq C714NR from Bestbuy deal last weekend. I plan to install Vista on it.

I don't have the laptop with me yet. I got a couple questions:

    1) what sofware DVD/CD included in the box? does it have Vista DVD in the box? or I have to order it from HP?

    2) I have Window Ultima, Can I install it on this laptop instead of the Home Preminum?

    thanks,

C714NR comes with Vista Premium, so whats to install?

It probably comes with an image as opposed to an actual install.

Since the license thats on the PC is specifically for the OEM built HP/Compaq PC, your version of Ultimate will invalidate the license thats already installed. You'd be better off using an upgrade path so you could keep your license.

Yes, the laptop come with window Home Premimum installed. but It got all junk software. I want to do a clean install of Vista.

I called HP and they won't give Window Vista DVD. they said they can send me the recovery Disc. I dont' want to install using recovery disc as it got all junk software

I bought a Dell before and called Dell to get window XP Disc for freee without any problem.

why HP does not give out Window Vista Disc?
what is other solution around this that anyone tried to do a clean install?

Solution would be to pay for an upgrade to the OS or pay for a copy of the OS from MS (if thats even possible). OEMs do this to keep cost down and "profits" up. That bloatware kicks back some sort of revenue to them, so it is in their best interest not to let you install "clean".

Why not just uninstall everything and then defrag?

Why do we have to pay for the Window CD? We already paid for the laptop and paid for the OS license. this is not fair.

clean install is better than uninstall and defrag.

    Life's not fair. Grow up.

You said it yourself - you paid for the laptop and the OS license. HP has no obligation to give you a Vista Anytime Upgrade disc.

I already read that guide. that was the reason why I asked where to find Window CD. That guide requires Clean Window Vista CD in order to install clean. Recovery CD is only used when there is a problem with install and need to go back to manufactor default.

Please actually read the guide. Looking at something does not equal reading it.

Yes, I read the manual. There is no DVD in the box, and I called HP to get the anytime upgrade but they said they don't sent out this dvd. they only send recovery DVD.

Buy one from CompUSA before the go out of business or buy one from Microsoft.

Or if you know how to google, there is a leak you can direct download straight from Microsoft.

Hey, you paid for the license, you have a right to this download.
