    Hi,

Im new here so plz. be patient if I sound like a noob.

I have decided to buy the HP tx1320us 12.1 Tablet PC or the newer tx1410us which has the same specs but adds a Firewire port.
Can I install Windows XP and replace pre-installed Vista?

Will the tablet function still work under XP? Alternatively, are tablet drivers for XP are available for download?

What about Dual-booting XP/Vista if the above scenario doesnt quite work out?

    No alternative laptop suggestions please.

    Thx.

If the tx1320us is sold with an OEM version of XP preloaded you should be fine as hte HP website will have the drivers for it.

I just checked the HP web site...the odd thing is there seems to be the full set of drivers for Vista but only some of them for XP...

But yeah Dual booting should work.

Ask the question in the HP forum. A few months ago I have the same problem too when I ordered one for my uncle. There wasn't any drivers available for Touchscreen, though somebody did post a driver, but the linked didn't work.

I had checked the HP Driver pages but there are no tablet drivers listed under input devices on either the XP or Vista driver download pages.
    I'll try the HP forums.
    Thx for the help.

on the hp site search for tx1000 and then choose the tx1000 CTO and that should show all the drivers for that whole series and hopefully there will be a touchscreen driver in there for you.

There are no touchscreen drivers at all. Windows Vista is built-in with that function, as well as XP (at least some version of it). I believe Media Center 2005 disc has the Tablet function if the correct serial # is used. Otherwise, it will install MCE2005. I think you need Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, which is included in the MCE2005 disc, but a special serial # must be used.

Windows XP pro or MCE should do fine with the tablet pc features. This thread should help you out to setup and install XP on the tx1000 series...

Look through the second or third page where people have posted their experiences and uploaded drivers for the hardware.

The XP drivers are not directly available from HP since they only support Vista on their current consumer systems.

Yeah the only thing I know is that you probably will need Windows XP Tablet Edition
