If you Google "dual boot Vista XP" you'll be presented on how to go abouts installing it.

i had a lot of problems with drivers when i installed xp...you'll want to check out nlite - you can use it to slipstream an install cd with the newest updates, so you can integrate those drivers in the installer (cd, usb, ethernet, etc.).

i think you have to install xp, then vista, if you want to dual boot the two, but i don't know much about windows, so you'll want to look that up.

See this thread and download XP drivers

    1) install windows xp - during the installation process split your HDD to 2 partitions, one for XP, second for Vista. In windows XP use drivers that you downloaded from link above. But maybe your will have problems with that, for example I cannot install audio driver for dv6690 under XP.

    2) install Windows Vista and install newest drivers from HP.

    3) if you wanna edit boot manager, your can use program VistaBootPro, you can edit names of OS, boot priority, interval etc.

you can also use EasyBCD's vista mbr fix tool which is much better than VistaBootPro
alternatively, you could use the fixmbr on a retail vista disc if you have one

I'll have to second v3loc1ty's comment on EasyBCD - I used it on my 6500 and Dell 1520 - it is a great app. The 6500 uses the Intel ICH8M and I slip-streamed drivers for that chipset into my XP Pro SP2 CD. Good luck...

Petrika - After you have installed XP - you broke the Vista boot manager - because the XP install didn't "know" about Vista (since Vista is newer). Suggest you boot from your Vista (Anytime Upgrade) DVD, select repair and let Vista repair your Vista boot manager. Then, you should be OK after the reboot - Vista should boot. You may have to re-run EasyBCD to get your choices screen (XP or Vista) after the next boot. Both of your installs should be fine - they just have to get to know each other.... :) Good luck...
