If you have the dv6500 series(Sanat Rosa based) thenyou will have to slipstream the SATA drivers onto the XP disc. if you have the dv6000 series notebook then you can either slipstream or disable SATA support in the BIOS and then proceed to install XP & install the SATA drivers later on.

Hp's website has all the drivers you should need. Make sure you get the model number of your system right as the dv6000 and the dv6500 use slightly different hardware and drivers...

The drivers for the dv6500 are in the link I first posted. Follow that link for the drivers if you have a dv6500 series notebook.

    Hello,

To my previous post as per ur suggestions, i have tried to disable sata native option. I entered into BIOS and searched for SATA Native option but unfortunately i dont have that option itself on the screen, I contacted HP service centre they said it is compatible only with vista . Is there any way to resolve this issue.

    Regards
    Pavan.K

Yeah, you will have to slipstream the SATA driver using a program like nlite and create a new XP install disc. The instructions are located in the first link I posted above.
