    Hey all,

I now have a DV7 7008tx laptop. The laptop came originally with 2 x 1TB hard drives and a 32GB SSD in cache mode (I think). I took out the main 1Tb drive and installed windows 7 from the recovery disks I made on a 128 SSD M4 hard drive that I had. Performance so far is great but I am having some issues.

    1) This screen comes up every single time I turn the computer on and I dont know what it means nor do I know how to remove it. I have posted up a photo of it. Please inform me of what this is and/or how I can remove it from coming up?

    2) I also now have had the blue screen of death 3 times and I have absolutely no idea why that is occurring. I know the usual culprits are drivers etc but do you think it has anything to do with the Hard drive configuration etc?

    Any help would be great.

The new dv7's are apparently not liking some ssd's. You might try updating the firmware on the ssd.

    1. Open up laptop

    2. Remove 32GB mSSD cache from computer

    3. Unbind HDD from RAID config

    4. Open back door, throw 32GB mSSD module as far as you can throw it.

    5. Enjoy.

I'd follow the advice in post 2 over post 3...

I did the same thing as you (replaced the OS HDD, but with a Kingston HyperX 3k 120 GB SSD). My DV7T appears to play with the Kingston just fine. That screen came up many times during the minimal install of Windows to the SSD. I just turned on my DV7T, and it didn't come up. Windows loaded in about 2 secs.

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but did you use the Intel Rapid Storage Tech software to disassociate the mSSD from the no longer existing OS HDD, and switch it so that it caches the storage drive? If not, I would try that. I have no way of knowing if that's what stopped that screen from showing up when I restart the laptop, but it was one of the first things I did after I installed Windows on the SSD, and that screen never reappeared once I did it.

Thanks all for the advice and LOL at mark1905 lol.

Yeh mines working fine now. When that screen came up, I just press control + I as it appears on that photo above and I changed the 32GB SSD from cache to non-raid I think. The screen never came up again. Took a few seconds but I didn't want to do it early incase something bad happened. But luckily everything went well.

What does accelerating exactly mean when it says the 32GB SSD was accelerating the normal 1tb hard drive? Does it increase performance by a noticeable margin or only by a little? Is the performance of just a normal 128SSD like mine as the primary drive much better than the acceleration of the 32GB??
    Thanks all
