I installed Vista Ultimate 64bit today and need a bit of help. I have the DV9000t and it has found 3 unknown devices. Any idea on what they may or maynot be? I am sure others have installed this on their system and have figured it out. Thanks in advance.

From my experience, they're probably the speakers (no 64-drivers for them), the Intel Serial ATA controller, and the mic and/or webcam.

Could you post what the unknown devices are listed as? That can help us figure it out quickly.

    Intel(R) 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9
    PCI bus 7, device 5, function 2
    PCI bus 7, device 5, function 3

not sure if thats what you were looking for or not. I belive the audio drivers are installed already although it only list it and nothing else like it use to have 5 things or something

Yeah, Intel(R) 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Controller - 27B9 is the Serial ATA Controller.

Have you installed the chipset driver? That usually takes care of that.

As for the last two, I've got no clue since that doesn't provide much info.

If memory serves, the first is the SATA controller: driver available from Intel.
The others that don't come up automatically are: XD card reader (Windows Update finds this), MS card reader (waiting on drivers from HP), and Quicklaunch buttons (drivers available from HP). Also, plan on having problems with the webcam and audio until HP posts the drivers on their site.

    Hope that helps.

Quicklaunch buttons I havent looked for yet so that may be one. Windows update has been ran so it shouldnt be those if they find it. I hate the nvidia drivers it installed as you cant adjust for brightness and such with them. Ill attempt at getting the other thing now.

Nvidia's Vista drivers are terrible right now. It doesn't really matter which ones you use, but if you want the latest you can download them (along with an inf to identify mobile chips) at www.laptopvideo2go.com .

funny enough i just noticed the one that disappeared when i installed the quicklaunch buttons was the controller lol weird

do you think i still need to install the controller? they are both listed there. the controller and chipset that is. if not mistaken somewhere it said the usb 2.0 cam is listed too so i guess one of the other devices is not those. both say base device on them so what else could they be?

Yeah, but I'm not sure if either gets rid of unknown devices. They both update drivers for existing devices to better ones though.

yeah i dont think it will either as they are listed already in the device manager. the other devices actually say base device so i have no clue now what they may or may not be
