    Hello everyone,

I just downgraded to XP Pro from my Vista-pre-installed dv9000t, and I have to say it is more of an upgrade than anything I've done to this computer yet. I only have two small problems that I'd like to see if I can get addressed.

    1) To install, I disabled SATA native support and installed XP Pro from an academic disc I had. Everything went smooth. I then took another disc that had every driver from the HP site on it and installed them after XP was finished, and the only ones I had a problem with were the SATA drivers and chipset drivers. According to the device manager, the best driver is already installed (including for SATA). However, it still gives me a blue screen whenever I try to re-enable SATA native support in the BIOS. Anything I can do about this? In a few minutes, I'll try one more time and see if I can enable it and I'll edit this post to reflect the results.

EDIT: Still get a blue screen while starting.

    2) Going along with the reinstalling drivers part, I tried to install QuickPlay from the HP site, and it failed to do so. I'm thinking this is because the QuickPlay download mentioned something about being put on a separate boot partition, which, since my computer did not have a separate one already since it had Vista, it cannot find. Is this the case? And if so, does anyone know any software I can get that I can make a small partition for QuickPlay with (preferrably free, as this will probably be the only time I use it) that I don't have to reformat the drive to do?

    Thanks in advance!

    /bump

Apparently I need to find either an MPEG-2 codec for Windows Media Player, or get QuickPlay installed, as I can't watch any movies anymore. So this issue has become a little more urgent than before. :p
