Can someone please help me?
I have a pavilion dv6700t, downgraded to Vista. I'd like to use quickplay, so I can use my remote and TV tuner, and buttons while the computer is running.
I don't care about accessing the buttons while the computer is off, so I will not need the direct QP, nor the harddrive partition (right?)
Keeping this in mind, how do I install QP on my XP laptop? IF you know of any download links to get the 2.3 version, that would be great as well, cause I can only find the direct QP version.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Crap. I downloaded QPW 2.3 from different sources...and tried to install. I do think that if it's not QP Direct, then it doesn't need a hard drive partition, right? (please correct me if I'm wrong!)
I get the error: Must be installed on an authorized computer. wtf?

BUMP
I'm sorry if that's not allowed, please let me know.
I'd like to find some help soon! Thank you! -
Quickplay wont work on machines on which it didn't come installed. There might be a way to force install it but I haven't heard of anyone doing it successfully. Quickplay direct wont work either since it does not have drivers for the newer models(dv2/6/95xx and newer). If you really want Quickplay then try installing Quickplay 3, however this requires a bit of work to actually install since by default it only supports Vista.
If you wan to install QP3 in XP then look for posts 16 & 18 in this thread...

Will QPW 1.x work with XP? I don't care about the "direct" feature, just as long as I can use my TV tuner and the buttons (mostly the volume ones) while my computer is on. -
Quickplay 1.x was completely independent of Windows (based on Linux, for those who never installed it fresh and didn't see the "Installing Linux" during the installation). It had its own little partition on the HDD as well. It was neat. Very small foot print, quick to boot (about 20 seconds from the time you pressed the power button) and had very good image quality despite being a little jerky.
However, it could only play DVDs and MP3s saved in a certain directory on the HDD.
I miss Quickplay 1.3 on my dv5030us. -
You can get to the download links to QPW 2.3 from http://www.asifism.com/.
I believe that QPW 2.3 is the only QPW that works on XP without modification.
If you follow the instructions in my PDF you should be able to install QPW 2.3 on virtually any XP installation. I installed it on my Sony Vaio desktop just a few minutes ago to see if it could be done. It worked perfectly.
As always, be careful working in your registry. I take no responsibility for mistakes you may make. If you don't know what you are doing ask somone who does for assistance.Attached Files:

The PDF was easy to follow and I did the registry edits and everything went smoothly! YAY!
Now I just gotta figure out how to get my Media Remote/HP TV Tuner to work with it...thank you so much! +rep -

See this post for installing Quick Launch Buttons driver.

Version 2.3 of HP Quickplay is not available from the link that "rief" provided.
Also in case you are unaware, version 2.3 of Quickplay for windows (QPW) is the last version for Windows XP, all newer versions will only run on Vista. -
deeastman,
That link is for Quick Play 2.1 2811

Then you may update to the latest QPW (v.3204) for XP with this link:

You need a program 'Winrar' to extract the excecutable file. Its free just google for it, if you don't already have it.
