Ok, yea, where do I put it?

I opened the center panel, which has two incomprehensible icons and the optical drive, which did no good.

I have a gig of RAM, but nowhere to put it!

Ok, I'll try to explain it as best as I can, I don't have my v5000z in front of me. So, there should be a plastic cover right next to the Windows XP Seal with the product key, and it should also be the closest cover to the battery slot. There will be two screws in the cover, BUT ONLY UNSCREW THE ONE THAT IS CLOSEST TO THE CIRCULAR FAN VENT. The other one does not need to be unscrewed, it keeps an internal component or something secure. Ok, once only ONE of the screws has been unscrewed, lift open the plastic cover, it may take a slight bit of force, but not an exessive amount, so be carefull. Now, you will see a bright silver rectangular metal cover with two screws, unscrew BOTH of these screws, and lift the cover up gently. Now you will see the TWO (yes, they are both accesible by the user!) memory slots. Then you can follow the steps in the above link as to pushing the levers and inserting the new RAMs. Then put everything back together and you're all done!

Dieter, did you get it in there? Is it working? What brand did you buy?

This is 'Dieter Weber' now signed on under the correct name..

Yes, it worked. I only posted here because I thought you guys might be faster than HP Tech support. HP tech support wasn't too knowledgable, but still got the job done.

    Thanks though!
