I am curious if I could add a second hard drive to my laptop. It is an HP Pavillion 6500t.

I am down to 100GB out of 160(140..)GB from when I got it. I have been cleaning out the old System Restore points every week or so. On my old machine I never had this problem and only had used about 10GB of space.

If I cannot install a second hard drive and would have to install a new hard drive, would a system restore disk install the OS back onto the machine or would I have to buy an entire new Vista CD/Key?

The dv6500 can have only one internal hard drive, so you will have to upgrade your current one or use an external. The 17" dv series is the only HP line capable of housing two hard drives internally as far as I know.

Your system restore discs will restore the operating system and software onto a new harddrive if you upgrade. You won't have to buy a new license.

I'm confused too.. if you have 100GB free now, what's the problem? See my "where's my disk space going" guide in my sig.

Not every laptop is the same. That's how companies separate themselves from one another to get people to buy their product instead of the competition.

Hitachi has a 500Gb internal laptop drive now, which retails for $400, and a 400Gb for $350.
