    Hi,

I want to install Windows XP on to my laptop(HP Pavilion DV6767Tx). But when i try to install XP i get error mesage saying "hard drive not found".
After searching in Forums, i came to know that i need to disable SATA drivers in BIOS. But I don't know the location of SATA drivers in BIOS.
During startup i pressed F10 and entered into BIOS Utility, But i am not able to locate this SATA Drivers in order to disable it.
Please help me how can disable it and install XP onto my Laptop.

    Thanks
    Mamatha

Welcome to the board. First of all you do not disable SATA drivers from BIOS. The option is called SATA : Compatible of Enhanced. When you choose compatible, you create an image of that SATA drive. This image will EMULATE and IDE channel, in layman terms. The CD will see it as an IDE drive and will install Windows.

You have another alternative but it is a bit time consuming. You can slip stream your XP so it sees your SATA drive. You will use a nifty tool called N-Lite.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
I felt first option is easy for me. But i couldn't understand from your explanation.
Could you please explain me in detail how to disable this SATA driver, where to do it. So that i don't face any problem to install XP.

    Thanks in Advance.

As I previously mentioned "how to disable this SATA driver" is not correct. The terminology you use is false. You do not disable it. Anywho, look for an option with SATA in your bios. You must have something along the lines Ehanced and Compatible. Set the drive in compatible.

    Hi,
I searched all the optons in BIOS. But I don't find any option called SATA.
Currently in my laptop i don't have VISTA, i had formatted Vista by installing CentOS. Is it because of this i don't find SATA option ?
I searched many times in BIOS, but no where i see SATA option.
