    Hi Everyone.
I have purchased a HP Pavilion Pavilion dv9700. I am having Windows Vista 64 bit preinstalled with it. But i want to install XP Professional in it. My laptop configuration is

HP Pavilion dv9700t Entertainment CTO NB
    - Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit)
    - Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo Processor T5750 (2.0GHz)
    - 17.0" diagonal WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1440 x 900)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
    - 250GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    - Webcam + Fingerprint Reader
    - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection and Bluetooth(TM)
    - LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-RW with Double Layer Support
    - No TV Tuner w/remote control
    - 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    - Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    - HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I am facing a lot of problem in installing XP Pro in it.and getting no useful support for that.I have seen a thread in this forum that is for dv6500. Like dv6500 i dont have option to disable native SATA support in my system. Does XP Pro installation proceedure of dv6500 will work on my system also.

so please can anybody tell me that how i can install XP on my system.
I am very concern becoz many of my applications are not working on Vista plateform and any how i wanna get rid if Vista from my system.

Please reply if anybody has done that or know about that.

    Thanks u All

Try following the direction on this sticky:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=165319

I did, and have been running Win XP Home on my DV9700T CTO for about 5 months now; the only issue I had was a lonely hardware not found item that I resolved yesterday by downloading and installing a QLB update, mentioned on this thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3087837#post3087837

And you might want to check out this thread if you want the Quick Play Software to work in XP:

    Good Luck!

    Hi,
Thanks for ur reply. I have gone through the link given by you.

Actually i have already tried for installing XP pro but instead of slip streaming the SATA Driver in XP CD i have tried it with a Floppy Disk which contain the Extracted SATA Driver files. After inserting the XP CD and SATA Driver files from floppy my system is able to detect the Hard Disk.but when the installation begin it gives me message..

    ""Insert the Disk Labeled

    Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver
    Into Drive A""

I have talked to HP support regarding this. They have given me a link for Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver. but i am not sure that at what stage of my installation i have to give that becoz it is an exe file having size around 22MB. so is it a file which will give me the extracted files and do i need i need to copy them to a second floppy but i think these extracted files size will be too large for a Floppy.

so does anyone has done this part with floppy disk or face this kind of problem.

ur help is highly appreciated and looking for a reply very soon.

    Thanks

PLEASE HELP....I have tried slip streaming the SATA driver with XP onto a new install CD and then upon booting get an error about "iaStor.sys...." I have tried loading the SATA drivers from those included in theseadragon's post but to no avail. I have tried looking for other SATA drivers...still not sure EXACTLY which SATA driver(s) I am to be using and how do I find out? I am about to get an external floppy drive in the hopes that it will work but still need to know how WHAT SATA DRIVERS do I use???????????????

Please someone give me the EXACT name and link me up....PLEASE

It depends on your Motherboard, I think. What is your notebook?

my motherboard from the Everest printout says....Unknown.....wonderful huh!!!!

I was however able to load XP by placing the SATA drivers on a floppy and attaching an external floppy drive, using the f6 option on cd loading....worked fine.

NOW.....the drivers that mujuman posted as working fine with 9500 but also seadragon states work fine with his 9700 don't work for me :-(

When i installed the chipset drivers and rebooted i got an error
"The path 'C:\Windows\SysWow64\8F00B2\ID8CD9' does not exist or is not a directory." with an option to hit OK to carry on

The Graphics Driver gives an error saying my computer does not meet minimum requirments Setup will exit.....and the Realtek drivers don't even show up in my downloaded items....

I AM LOST and wondering where to go now.

You have to download a different chipset file, mate, as that one is different from each version. I'm unsure of yours, but try this one: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ex?softwareitem=ob-66194-1&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en

The graphics driver depends on which card you have on your notebook. I had to install nVidia drivers on mine since mine came with a GeForce card instead of the regular intel chipset graphics card.
