I just recieved this SSD and am debating which way to go with the install. I think I have the following two options:

    1. The Intel tools are available from their website including a data migration software tool which is Acronis software that will clone the drive from the existing drive.

My reservation here is that HP has told me that this will not work since the drive itself being different will cause the boot to fail or something of that nature. I have had others say that it does work due to the fact that the cloned drive is already activated.

    2. The other option is to clean install the Windows 7 operating system onto the SSD and then activate it with the existing key using the ABR beta program that will restore the activation of the original installed OS.

I dont know if this works but there is a video on you tube that uses it and showes it to work. I have been told that the clean install is best and I have always been a fan of that and am thinking of going that route. I do want to maintain the original HDD with the operating system and restore partition on it should something go wrong in the future as a means to restore the system if the need should arise. I did make the restore disks but having used HP restore disks on another computer that I found would not boot after using the disks and had to do a repair from the restore partition on the harddrive to get the system to boot. I there fore dont want to rely on the restore disks alone.

Anywho if you have any advice for me I would love to hear about your experience in doing this yourself. Thanks!
