intel 3945 wireless card cannot detect university wireless network
hi all,
I have been facing a great problem nd will be glad if anyone can assist me
I have a Hp dv6500 series laptop which came with Intel 3945 wireless card and vista home premium preinstalled.
For the past year everything was fine....
Now suddenly My laptop has stopped detecting University wireless network.
I get an error message saying "no wireless networks were found"
I tried the following measures:
1) Verified that the hardware wifi control switch is on
2) sitched it off/on many times
3) switched my laptop on/off many times
4) Installed the latest wireless drivers from hp site. then I tried the ones from intel site
5)flashed my bios to the latest available version
6) Uninstalled the "hp wireless assistant" . (on suggestion of HP customer care)
7) restored the bios default configuration. (on suggestion of HP customer care)
still "no wireless networks found"
after all this stuff I thought there may be a problem with vista os. So I installed XP sp2 on my laptop (using dual boot)
and installed all the latest drivers....
still I got the message "no wireless networks in range"
Then I disabled my "wireless zero configuration" in xp. and used the "Intel proset/wireless" program.
That also gave message "no wifi networks found"
All this led me to the conclusion that maybe My wireless card was malfunctioning.....
But then I checked with a few fellow students and guess what
1)all those with Intel 3945 cards were NOT able toconnect to the university network
2)All those with Broadcom wireless card were able to connect
3) OS didnt matter because intel 3945 was not able to connect with both vista/xp
4) at this point I must mention that the signal coverage in our university is quite good and It is an "open" network
. ie no password is needed...
my questions
1)Any suggestions will be appreciated..
2)can It be possible that there is some compatability problem between intel 3945 card and the university router .
3) please can I do anything to get the wireless signal back????
4) What changes can be made tomy Laptop configuration to solve this problem??
regards,
sakira
