My brand new more than $2K HDX 16t seems to have an achillies heel. It won't connect to my N network at anything more than 65Mbps and sometime drops as low as 2Mbps--yes t-w-o.

My 11 month old Dell XPS m1530 sitting on the same table is locked on at 130Mbps. I've been reading various threads here and tweaking settings on my Linksys WRT150N router, but no luck yet.

I even tried chatting with tech support at HP. The guy finally told me to do a system recovery. w T F?
    This stinks!

    Ideas anyone?

It looks like the dual-band settings on your HP are off. Turn it to performance mode with dual band N. I would 'assume' that HP has included 3 antennas which are necessary for dual band N speeds...unlike the wireless N of the 1000H which, you guessed, is locked at 65 Mbps with 2 antennas.

Success!!! I finally found my answer. I changed one setting and am now pegged at 135Mbps. For anyone else out there in my situation, here's where to go:

Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN > Properties (right click to see Properties) > Advanced. Make sure that 802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4 and 802.11n Channel Width for band 5.2 are set to Auto.
