Is there a definitive list of settings - I am not a wifi expert so don't know - all I know is my ENVY 17 2280NR locks up from time to time when on wifi? I have read the driver docs that just explains all the settings that come in the HP Sw folder but doesn't say which to use!

I have come up with these below, can anyone suggest if I can improve on them or have I got any wrong? I am using b/g type routers outside the USA mostly and having issues with the ENVY locking up. The settings below seem to reduce the lock ups to a tolerable amount albeit not eliminate them.

    802.11n Channel Width (2.4 GHz) = 20Hz Only

    802.11n Channel Width (5.2 GHz) = 20Hz Only

    802.11n Mode = Disabled

    Ad Hoc Channel = 11

Ad Hoc QoS Mode = WMM Enabled

    Fat Channel Intolerant = Disabled

Mixed mode protection = RTS/CTS Enabled

Preferred Band = 1. No Preference

    Roaming Aggressiveness = 4. Medium - High

    Transmit Power = 3. Medium

    Wireless Mode = 4. 802.11b/g

    OK

Might want to up your transmit power to the maximum. Also, your 5GZ should be auto or 20/40. Many N networks run 40.

Ok thanks. I'll tinker with the transmit pwr higher. So far I am not using N networks but when I do I will set to Auto. So far only two ENVY17 lock ups so far today, once using a streaming TV feed over wifi and then whilst downloading a torrent over wifi.

Hoping things will change when my 6300 card arrives, if it ever does!

If you have a router capable of wireless-N then you will want to enable 802.11n Mode.
