I'm debating which graphics system to go with for a dv2000t. I'm not planning on playing games on it (I have a desktop system for that), so there's no real reason to go with the GeForce unless it provides advantages with playing videos (particularly HD video) over the 950, and it doesn't affect heat/battery life too much. Anyone with a 7200 want to comment on their experience with it?

7200 will out preform by a long shot, but if you are not playing games it doesn't matter.

    so get the cheapest

I like the 7200 because it has a lot more adjustments than Intel's. Gamma, Contrast, Brightness....especially gamma. I don't think u can do this with the intel, but I could be wrong...

I have far more trust in nVidia's drivers than Intel's. Buy the upgrade.

If you want to enable the Aero interface when you upgrade to Vista, I really suggest you to use nVidia Geforce 7200, instead of Intel GMA 950. Even with 7200, I find Aero a little bit slow at times..and I just can't imagine GMA 950 would fair any better...most likely worse.

One tradeoff to keep in mind: Others people with the 7200 have posted that their machines came with a 90w power brick, which is significantly larger/heavier than the 65w provided with the GMA 950 machines.

The Nvidia option provides DVD (MPEG-2) acceleration and visual enhancements if you're interested in watching DVDs.

The GMA950 is clearly the better choice, with its lower power consumption. Aero works fine with the GMA950.

The Go7200 could potentially accelerate H264 HD content decoding with the right codecs, but any Core Duo CPU should be able to decode up to 1080p H264 with the right codecs.

You are wrong. The Intel drivers have gamma, brightness, and contrast controls.

Just for the record, I ended up going with the GMA 950. I decided that battery life wins out over better Aero support (which I'll probably disable even if I do lose my mind and install Vista...). Thanks everyone for your input.

Aero Glass works with the GMA950 but I know I wouldn't leave it on for very long, personally...
