dv1000 Pentium M vs. L2000 or Compaq V2000z Turions: get the Turion.

dv4000 has no Turion equivalent from HP. Acer's Travelmate 4400 and MSI's 1029 are worth a look.

The ze2000z series and Compaq's equivalent are very cheap, if you don't mind the 15" 1024x768 res screen and more limited configuration options. Almost identical guts to the V2000z otherwise.

All the Turion notebooks have far superior ATI GPUs vs. Intel's lame GPU they force manufacturers to use to qualify for Centrino marketing tax money.

1.The Turion versioned laptops have the 200m which is much better than the GMA 900.

2.The P-M versioned have little better battery life than Turion versioned laptops.

3.Yes, all HP/Compaq laptops have the option of having brightview.

If you want to get more value out of the laptop, then get the Turions.
