I might not understand the difference between the PM965 and GM965 chipsets. I understand (pls. correct me if I'm wrong) that laptop running nVidea cards have PM965 chipset, those having the intel internal graphic card has a GM965.

I'd appreciate that someone take some of his/her precious time to help me understand.

    Thanx

The GM965 chipset comes with discrete Intel graphics, the X3100. The PM965 chipset comes with nVidia based graphics. I would reccomend running CPU-Z to verify your chipset information.

wait what does a Processor ID Utility have to do with the Chipset

    [Edit]
i downloaded the Intel Processor Id Utility. In no place in that application reports the chipset model.

    [Editx2]
I downloaded the Intel Chipset Id Utility. It also reports my chipset as GM965. Doesnt really matter use hp support and driver for updates. Plus its really the same board and the X3100 gets updates separately.
