i talked to an HP rep over the net and asked about the merom compatability and heres the 2 reference sites she gave me

    http://www.intel.com/business/bss/products/client/stableplatform/components.htm

its interesting it looks like if the bios supports/enables the "IntelĀ® Stable Image Technology Intel Stable Image Technology enabled in BIOS"

that the MEROM will indeed work and be fully recognized, which is the SIPP i guess which was launched in january 2006 which is around the time core duos came out i believe so then if thats true and the motherboards have that BIOS all core duo machines should work if im inteperting this correctly?

..."the SIPP qualification window for laptops was January-March. Intel recommends deploying stable platforms based on 2006 Intel SIPP laptop components through the end of the year. The next Intel SIPP laptop transition will begin in April 2007." <-- the one in 2007 would be the santa rosa right?

Im telling "take the gamble" its just 1200 and if it doesnt work you can always resell it. It looks like a great laptop with the geforce 7200. this is going to be my next laptop when windows vista pre program comes out.
