So has anyone ever put a T9500(2.6ghz 6mb 800mhz) or something faster into a Dv9500? I tried doing a search but couldn't find anything. Thank you.

I've put a T9300 into a DV9500, can't see why the T9500 won't work. Seeing the guy I got the T9300 from, replaced it with a X9000, so it wouldn't be out of the question for one to think the three could.

Yes any Merom or 1st Generation Penryn chip will work fine, just make sure you update your BIOS to the latest version

Iv got a T9500 in a Dv6000t notebook, I had a t9300 originally installed, I have had no significant increase in temperature or an increase in speed :D...Not a big difference in my book, but I got it real cheap, almost cheaper than I sold my t9300 for. I guess that if I use CPU demanding tasks often it will get hotter, but these cpus are a little ahead of the software, and when I am using the computer for internet and itunes I get an average of 15% usage, and if I am using it for gaming or something more demanding I get a max of 60% so I don't think that it will be a problem with heat, and your laptop is actually much larger than mine so you will never have a problem with heat. ;)

Cool. Thanks guys, I plan on using it for recording music and was told recording is very demanding on the cpu so get as much as I can. Do you think the T9500's 6mb cache has and advantage over the X7900? Thank you for all the help.

You should get a (X7900 is a 2.8 and the T9500 2.6, doing the math 2.8/2.6*100) 7.69% increase in speed but seeing the X7900 has the older 65 nanometer architecture, you'd probably have a 15%-25% heat increase over the T9500, which wouldn't be the best scenario if you're running the dodgy 8600M GS card.
I have included this COMPARISON OF MOBILE PROCESSORS (CPU BENCHMARKS) for you to check out.
