    Hi guys,

I've been wondering for a while now whether it's possible to install Intel Turbo Memory in the HP 8710w. I've searched through the old threads on this forum, but no one has confirmed one way or another whether Intel Turbo Memory can be fitted into the 8710w.

Does anyone know the answer to this?

    Thanks a bunch in advance!

No. Unless you wanted to get out your soldering iron, cross your fingers and give it a go...

There are empty pads on the mobo for a 2nd mini-pcie connector. Maybe it was intended for turbo memory, but HP decided not to use it on any of their business models. You would need to solder a connector on there, then plug in your turbo memory. Then hope that somehow the BIOS would recognise it and it would all just magically work.

    That's why I'm saying no.

Check if there are tracks running off the mPCIe slot pin 23/25, 31/33 maching PER/PET as shown here. If so, it would be worthwhile getting the soldering iron out. It's easy to enable the port, just use baredit and write to RCBA+3418h (function disable register) as shown here and here, then use "Scan Hardware" in Device Manager. Worth putting the wifi card in the soldered slot as it could also be whitelisted. The baredit process can automated at startup, or added into grub2 bootloader (better). Just need to confirm functionality first.

Stumo - can you take a pic of the empty pads for the additional slot? I'm wondering if my 2510P would have the same?? I have 2 mPCIe slots - wifi (whitelisted mPCIe) and wwan (appears to be whitelisted usb). Is there a third?
