Hello everyone and welcome to my thread.

I was just wondering, I have a Intel Compaq Presario V2157AP with a Intel motherboard which is the Intel i855GM/GME chipset. I'm about to buy a new CPU that I've found on the internet for my laptop, but before i buy i would like some advice. The CPU is Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processors - M 2 GHz http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sspec=sl6fk
I'm currently running a Intel Celeron M 1.4Ghz, I've seen on the Intel website that my motherboard can support Pentium M, But I'm currently having second thoughts about processor so I'm wondering can anyone give me help on giving me advice on this processor.

Why buy a new laptop when you just can upgrade my previous one.

    Hi MusiqKid,
I'm in the process of doing the same thing with my v2000. Mine came with the M340, which is based on the Dothan architecture. You will want to stick with that same series, such as an M745 (sl7en) or M755 (sl7em). The one you mentioned, SL6FK, is going backwards for you; t's not a Centrino design, either, so it won't have the energy features, and will probably run hotter even if if does work with your board.
