I just got a new Wireless N router (Linksys).
I have the DV9774ca laptop with the Intel 4965AGN wireless adapter in it.

So the driver I had was a few versions behind. So in order to be sure I have the latest driver for the "N" use without trouble I just went to HP drivers site. On there I manually downloaded the latest version (sp38437) - Release Date: 2008-02-05 Version: 7.10 C, which brings it up to driver 11.5.1.8

I notice in device manager it now actually says it is dated some time back mid 2007. So then also in device manager I let it look for an updated driver, where it installs driver 11.5.0.32, dated 20/12/2007....a newer date.

Now that driver is an older version with newer date!

What should I do, go for newer version with older date? or older version with newer date? Somethings screwey there somewhere!

    THX.

I think the newest one is 11.5.1.15... at least that's what I'm using and it's dated 3/13/08

Wow I didnt know I was using 11.5.0.32 until I checked right now. Apparently the softpaq didn't autorun the setup with 11.5.1.8 when I download it February. the date on the new driver says 1/8/2007. It looks like a typo.

hmmm... it seems that microsoft update wants me to update it back to 11.5.0.32.

keep the new one that you installed as long as you don't have problems (which might be why windows update is pushing the old driver)

I noticed the same thing after installing sp38437 several months ago. My assumption is that the driver version is correct (11.5.1.8) and the date is a typo. I haven’t had any wireless problems since I installed it.

11.5.1.8 it is...even though its dated 08/01/2007. No problems....just wanted to be sure to avoid bugs with an outdated driver. No point using a new router with "N" if its going to be same or worse than my older "G" because of bugs!

I said in my very first post sp38437 was dated mid year last year, but on closer inspection its the 8th of January, not the 1st of August as I first thought. I also think its a typo on the year then.
