What are the chances of mainstream stores (BestBuy, etc) selling the better graphics option - the NVIDIA 8400M? Do you think they'll stick to the lower end option for the consumer notebooks?

At the moment, you can't even get the Nvidia options direct from HP -- Intel graphics only on all those models.

When they do launch the Nvidia graphics options, though, expect the in-store models to mostly have them in the larger screen sizes (esp. 17"), with the smaller (14.1") models almost never having them in-store. That's assuming HP sticks with the trends they've established up to now.

The only time I've seen discrete GPU's in a Big Box store has been on the dv9000t, from circuit city.
