How good is Intel Graphics 950 or Nvidia 7400 for Vista Buiseness. These are cheaper compared to new Intel x3100 and Nvidia 8400. I am not looking for a gaming laptop but it should not be slow overall with Vista's 3D graphics.
    Any suggestions?
Also, how Nvidia 7400 compares with 8400 and how much battery life one can expect with Nvidia and Intel 950 chips.
    Thanks.

The dv2000t w/GMA 950 has no problems running Aero on Vista Business. It stays pretty cool and gets over 2+ hours of battery life with the 6-cell.

I don't have a Go 7400, but my Go 7200 runs warmer than the 950 and has miserable battery life in comparison.

definitely. The 7200 runs much hotter than 950.

When people complained about the heat on HP laptop, I never really understood until i made the switch to one with nvidia 7200. The 950 might be slow, but it doesn't generate heat, if any.

i have GMA950 on my dv6000t and it runs aero fine. i'm not using it for gaming so having a laptop with nvidia or ati graphics card on it would be an overkill for me IMO. just make sure to upgrade your ram, i think that's what helps out my desktop performance too.

I have the dv6000 series which uses the Intel GMA 950 and I have no performance issues at all in Vista Premium. I'm not using it for gaming and it has more than enough video power for all of my needs, including video and photo edits (10mp images), the usual office apps, astronomy and orbital tracking programs, etc., and even playing the included chess game or other basic games.

Before I bought my laptop, I compared the video performance of several models to make sure the 950 would be fast enough, and I was surprised by its performance after hearing nothing but complaints about it from others. But I found it quite good and chose it for the lower heat and better battery life.

I'll echo the others here that the Intel 950 is better with battery life and should be more than enough for your needs.

The 8400 is obviously more powerful, but unless you're gaming or into intense video rendering, it probably won't make any difference.

    :)

Do you have the regular, or high capacity 6-cell. And what processor do you have?

I have a dv2000t on order, and have heard conflicting reports about battery life.

    High-cap 6-cell & T5600 C2D, running on the "Balanced" power setting.
