I just tested the dvd feature on my dv4000.

It works fine with InterVideo. Is this a trial version only?

When I loaded a DVD, the InterActual install window came up? Do I need this? Is this a trial software also?

For music, iTunes is the default. Trial version? How different is it from WinAmp?

    Thanks,

Intervideo seems to be a complete version. I don't like interactual--intervideo is much more user friendly. As for Itunes, it is the complete version. It is free from itunes.com and no membership or registration is required. As for comparing it with winamp, there is no comparison. Itunes is a much better player. It does a lot that winamp doesn't do. I would suggest taking some time to get to know it and everything it does. (More than meets the eye at first glance.)

I had the same problem with the InterActual player. It is acually pre-loaded on some DVDs. When you put that DVD in, it will try to install the InterAcual player. Don't install InterActual, use the full-version InterVideo player that came with your system.

If you want to use WinAmp, just change it to be the default player. I personally use WMP (yes, Microsoft) for my music. I like the ability to change tracks when minimized. Also it is completely free, unlike WinAmp. I also tried the iTunes, didn't like it, so I just uninstalled it. It all comes down to just user-preference. The are many more free media players out there. Find one you like best and use it.

    Thanks guys.

I just want a simple player. I'll stick with InterVideo WinDVD.

I'll also give iTunes a spin.
