I have a DV2315NR. The mini pci slot is accessible from the outside, I opened it and found my broadcom b/g wireless card. Is there anyway I can add internal bluetooth to my laptop? Thanks much.

I believe HP uses a separate bluetooth module which resides underneath the touchpad. The service manual should give you the product number and the instructions on how to access the bluetooth. You cannot add bluetooth by buying an integrated wifi card since HP has a BIOS lock on non HP supplied wifi devices.

It will require fair bit of disassembly to access the bluetooth module and you will probably have to purchase it from HP...

Thanks much. HP says the part is not order able. Any other place I could order it from? Also, I heard someone say on the forums that if you disassemble a laptop, it's never the same again. Is that true?

    Much appreciated.

    Edit:

Seems like you can order the 397923-001, I am looking for the 397923-002. Is there really any difference? Thanks.
Not only that, it says the cable is not included and I can't find the cable kit. :(

    EDIT 2:

I called HP up, and found the right bluetooth and the cable kit.... 60 for the kit and 38 for the module. As compared to 8 dollars for a usb dongle.. insanity at it's finest. So basically now, my lone question is how hard is it to disassemble the laptop and do I risk ruining it somehow? As in it not going back together properly or the keys getting stuck...... something like that... thanks

That question that no body else can answer other than you but generally if you look through the service manual and disassemble the laptop carefully you should be fine. Dont loose any screws, drop or break the connectors or use excessive force. I would do it over a free weekend so you dont have to rush to put the laptop back together.

P.S I would just use an external dongle it is a lot cheaper and you dont have to disassemble anything.

i say wait for the mogo bluetooth, its so small. the only down side, u loose 1 usb slot but u will never have to take it off because its so small, so it cant get snapped off by accident, and you dont have to risk screwing up your notebook trying to put an internal one it either

Well, I don't know when it's going to come out nor for how much...

Trying to find a cheap cable... wondering if the cable that comes with other bluetooth cards would work with this........

The cable looks like it connects to a mini PCI card rather than the Pcie cards used in the newer laptops. Try to find cables which work with any of the newer series like the dv9000, dv6000 etc these should be compatible with the dv2000z.
