I have a fast connection here at college but every once in a while my HP DV2418 creeps along no matter what browser i use (Chrome, FF, IE)

any idea why this is happening? I am cleaning out my private data, cookies, and temp files almost daily and this still occurs.

If it is occuring with different browsers, cleaning the cookies, etc has nothing to do with your problem.

I understand this occurs on your laptop--is it happening to anyone else (dorm mates?) If so, it is almost certainly related to network congestion (hardware) that is outside the ability to correct.

If no one else is experiencing this, try updating your network drivers

You can go ahead and try a System Restore to the date when ur internet used to work fast. If that doesn't work, then go ahead and uninstall the network adapter drivers (Broadcom/ Atheros/ Intel Pro) and restart ur laptop and ddownload latest drivers from HP.COM.

    This should solve your problem.

Figures a person from india would also work for HP or DELL and that same person would suggest a restore. For a good laugh, click here and watch any of the "tech support" clips.

For the issue at hand, is your connection wireless or LAN? can you use the alternate when the issue develops as a test? If your able, switch to wireless from LAN or vice versa when it slows down just to gauge how the other connection will work, this could help narrow it down to which connection needs to be looked at.

Either that or do a restore.

    Ha ha ha!

well like i said, i was having this problem prior to reformatting sooooo. My wi-fi works great but no, i cannot immediatly switch between the two. If I could, I would just be running the wi-fi
