    I notice a delay before I can access the internet after notebook comes out of sleep, hibernation or restart. I read about a tweak somewhere but cant remember where now, which shortens this delay. Could someone plzz post the tweak...

    If you have windows vista, get sp1 when it comes out, it fixes that issue for most laptops.

    4. Get Quicker Internet Confirmation!

    The last item to load and confirm on some systems is the internet connection itself. Many people have complained that, it may take as much as 10-15 seconds for Vista to confirm the connection during which they cannot do anything. I have experienced this myself with one of my SSDs and subsequently learned about this tweak.

    In fact, I have used it on all my systems (none of which are network connected locally) and find my internet connection to now be much faster and a definite start time improvement.

    The process is simple and as such:

    1. Click 'Winkey' + R to get the 'Run' window;
    2. Type 'services.msc' and hit enter;
    3. Scroll to one of the final entries which is 'Workstation'
    4. Double click to open and disable it; and
    5. Reboot and Voila!!

    NOTE: This tweak is a great enhancement for standalone systems that use wired or wireless internet such as I. It is not so good if you are at home or work with a LAN or server configuration. I would not advise it on any LAN environment because you will not be able to access any files over the LAN. Its a standalone tweak only!!

    There you go! :D

    Thanks Pixelot for posting the tweak.. I was looking for exactly the same.. But reading the Note, I am confused if I should try it or not. I have wireless internet at my home and have two other PC's that connect to a common router and we sometimes share files too. So does it mean that I should not try this tweak since I could be considered on LAN???

    Well, you could always try it, see how it affects your occasional LAN, and undo it if needed... ;)
