So I went ahead and used my recovery dvds to give my lappy (dv6000t) a fresh start but now I can't seem to connect to the internet anymore. I have a wireless netork at home and I've done all the settings and it shows that i'm connected to the network and everything. Signal strength is excellent and transfering at speeds of 54mps. But when I open up IE nothing loads. Even the Norton software says i'm not connected when it tries to do its Live Update thing. I can't figure it out since it's showing that i'm connected yet I can't get anything in my web browser. I've done everything I did when I setup it up when I first received my laptop. What can I do? Is there something i'm missing?

Well it sounds like before you recovered you could connect, right?

Try updating your wireless drivers, also make sure that the wireless connection is setup right in the system configuration.

Also sounds dumb but you would be suprised how many people don't realize, try resetting your wireless router and make sure it is recieving a valid IP.

fixed. i tinkered around some more and went into wireless properties and changed the settings as obtaining the IP address automatically. i don't remember it being set otherwise the first time. hmmm. oh well. that was the problem. thanks for your help.
