Ok... i'm in need of some desperate help here guys. Wasn't too sure where to post this either, but i'm hoping someone with this HP laptop had a similar problem.
As the thread title states i have a DV2416us, and the back light went out about 2 weeks ago. I have a couple problems on my hands here..
I'll lay out the timeline, and this is all under the assumption that the inverter has gone bad.
1) I went on google/ebay grabbed the cheapest "dv2000" part i could find. Received it, didn't work. Probably got the wrong part, cut my losses.
2) Went to HP part surfer to get the exact model number which turned out to be 417097-001. Punched that into google/ebay. Received it, didn't work. Now I'm just bleeding money before i realized the the 2 parts from 2 different ebay sellers are actually the SAME part.![]()
3) I contacted the sellers explaining the situation and they are both adamant the parts they sent are compatible with my part despite having DIFFERENT part numbers.![]()

The actual part number on my original inverter is 19.21066.034 and the two ebay parts are 19.21072.013.
I'm not jumping on the first chance to call these folks liars but the parts are not working and I'll a lot feel better if someone could confirm these parts are compatible.
Which brings me to the second problem... do i actually have an inverter problem, provided the parts are correct.
Leading up to the failure two weeks ago there was a slight flickering, barely noticeable. Didn't think too much of it at the time. Then i realized the screen was making a soft buzz. Next thing you know no light. The LCD portion still works as I'm able to use it when i shine a flashlight directly at it. With the original "bad" inverter each time i turn on the machine it will still light up the screen for a split second and make a loud buzz before going dark. I'm assuming the CCFL is still good since it can still produce light.
I need some second opinions.

The LCD cable that acts also as power cable for the inverter might be broken.
It actually is more often the cable than inverter that breaks. -
Well I'm open to any and all suggestions, but the cable? I looked online concerning buzzing from the LCD lid/inverter and there's definitely a buzz when the inverter tries to activate upon boot. There's still enough going on in the bad inverter that lets the panel light up. I'm puzzled.

What happens with the two replacement inverters? Nothing at all?

Nothing at all with the ebay inverters. When I put the original part back in I can still at least get a split second light up, the other two nothing at all.
