Being a student, spending an extra $50 is kind of a big deal for me. Would you guys suggest I drop the extra $50? Is it worth it?

Also, do you know of any pictures online that compare a BrightView screen with a regular screen?

BrightView worth every dollar they ask for. It is called BrightView not because it is brighter (in case you haven't seen one) but because it has glossy surface. Like a glass, literaly. Side-by-side with old LCDs BrightView looks like a killer.

Can be nice, but don't expect to be able to work if you have a window behind you. Glare is a killer for productivity. [} :)]

that is true, it makes glare much worse, for the normal office use bright view is probably not so good, but for the gamer's and dvd watchers it is a nice upgrade

Personally, I wouldn't trade my 1680x1050 screen for the lower-res BrightView, no way no how. I'm not sure how well BrightView would work in the ridiculously well lit campus library either. It's all a matter of personal preference though. Some people hate the smaller text of the high-res screens and don't like Windows Large Fonts.

I love enhanced displays and think they're worth every penny, if you don't need ultra high res. I find changing the screen angle solves most glare problems.

Brightview is definately worth it. Before I bought mine I went to Bestbuy and stared at the two screens. With all the bright lights in there you could see some glare but you could also see it on the normal screen, it was just a different type of glare. Now that I have had it for a couple of days I don't know how I could go back to the normal display. My HP DV1000 screen is brighter when it is on battery turned down then my girlfriends IBM Thinkpad when it is pluged in.
