Hello All. I am a new member to these forums and I would like some advice as I am about to purchase a new laptop.

I configured two HP dv6000 series laptops with the following specs:

    Configure #1

    -AMD Turion 64 X2 2.0GHz
    -15.4'' BrightView
    -256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7200
-HP IMPRINT Finish + Mic + Webcam
    -1GB DDR2 SDRAM
    -100GB 5400 RPM HDD
    -DVD+/-RW LightScribe DL
    -802.11a/b/g WLAN & Bluetooth
    -12 Cell Battery
    -Recovery DVD
    -2-year Accidental w/ Express Repair
Price (After Tax, Instant Savings & Rebate) = $1595.64

    Configure #2

    -Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz
    -15.4'' BrightView
    -256MB NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400
-HP IMPRINT Finish + Mic + Webcam
    -1GB DDR2 SDRAM
    -100GB 5400 RPM HDD
    -DVD+/-RW LightScribe DL
    -Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/ Bluetooth
    -12 Cell Battery
    -Recovery DVD
    -2-year Accidental w/ Express Repair
    Price (After Tax & Rebate) = $1842.27

So, is the Core 2 Duo worth the $246.63 difference?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you need every last minute of battery life, nope. The Go 7400 would be nice but not for that much money.

    Nice config.

Yeah it looks like the Go 7400 video card along w/the newly released core 2 duo is the cause for the $250 price difference.

If your using more graphic intense programs (i.e., games, photoshop even) a lot then I would go for the 6000t, but that's just me.

Okay, I decided not to do a CTO and just buy one at Staples. This has the Core Duo instead of the Core 2 Duo and the screen is a 14.1'' instead of the 15.4'' which I originally wanted.

I got the HP dv2037us for $924.14 (after tax, $50 rebate, and $50 coupon)

You guys think I got a good deal?

I think it's much better to get a cheap HP than an expensive one. HP is simply not the brand you want to spend your 1.8k savings. If you really want to spend that much money go to Sony or Asus.
I believe the dv2037 is a much wiser choice
