Last week I got the dv6000t and today I am noticing a high pitched sound on it and nonstopping fans. The high pitched sound occurs when the dv6000t is either plugged into an outlet and on battery power. I tried all the solutions even disabling c4 in the bios and still the high pitch sound still occurs. I even used NHC and rmclock and still get nonstopping fans. I am ready to return it on Thursday since the high pitch noise is making my ears feel like they are bleeding and I will be ordering the macbook and installing Windows XP Pro, which is way better then Windows Vista.

Don't reply to this guy, quite obvious he doesn't even own a dv6000t! He's just here to try and downplay people from buying one. He's more than likely some sort of HP hater and he's trying to start trouble!

    Don't believe the hype!

I think that I solved this problem. I noticed this problem when I did a clean install of Windows Vista. To solve the problem, I had to do a complete system restore with the HP recovery dvd. I guess I have to call HP in the morning to cancel the return process that I called late yesterday afternoon and then I might install Windows XP Pro on the dv6000t that is if I can find Windows XP drivers. I guess my dv6000t is not a lemon after all.

My compaq v6000t had the same problem....I was able to "fix" it by upgrading the BIOS per hp instructions...I agree that it is more like working "around" the problem vs eliminating it (replace fans?) but at least the maddening noise is gone....

It is good to hear that you were able to take away that sound. Bu I don't understand why people are complaining about that little high pitch sound. That is not a big deal, almost every electronic device have some sort off little static sound. Both my new DV2000Z and old ZV5000Z computer had that noise at some point, I noticed just because every one started to complaint about it. So I payed more attention to my computer and the only way I was able to hear that little high pitch sound was only if I putted my head very close to the computer while in a quite room.

I agree I don't think he is starting trouble. He took all the proper steps to stop the noise and his last resort was to try and get help from the board

Just the fact that there was already about a trillion posts about the whine, plus the title of his post made me suspicious.

We get the point that "some" dv6000t's have the high pitched whine, mine does not so I don't get the whole "lemon" comment.

    Peace.
