On buying the HP 6000t, a message for the extended warranty customization option says:

Then it goes on to list several options, the first and cheapest of which is (none) then the next cheapest is:
Now, is (none) the "standard"? Do they include the "one-year limited warranty" w/ the laptop when I select (none)? Or does the "extended service plan" indicate the one year "standard"? It's confusing because of the term "extended" which usually implies adding on to something already there. Thanks, just don't want to spend more than I have to on reassurance.

One-year limited warranty is standard w/ the laptop.

Extended plan gives you more options on repair..

Example, standard warranty being a mail-in for repair... and the extended warranty offering "on-site", next day service... stuff like that.

Also "trick" was the wrong word, what I meant was that there was confusion involved between myself and said website. :D Maybe nothing intended by them.

I'm not sure that I'll need it. If I need that, then why not say I need 2 yr and then keep moving it up? Extended warranties tend to operate on fear and peace of mind more than anything. But that's just my opinion. Since they DO give you a year for mail-in service, that seems reasonable.

    Give you some "tips"....

    TIP#1:

The "place" to buy a HP is COSTCO, either in store, or via the web at www.COSTCO.com

Thru COSTCO you have a :D 180-day return window.. :D .. Thru HP direct you only have 21-days...

Buy pre-builts in store, via the web... or CTO a unit via the web direct from the HP factory in CHINA.

    (CTO=Custom to Order)

NOTE: Costco CTO page not accepting orders till the 24th (HP has a supply problem right now)

TIP #2... mail in repair on the HP's suck

TIP#3 ... You can buy the EW after you receive the unit thru Costco if the EW option you want is not listed on the Costco site.
(I got them to add "EW's to the Costco site.. don't know if they have all of the options listed so double check with HP.com on the options)

    .

Wearenotalone, my issue still hasnt been resolved with sound, it is in for the 3rd time I just send it right back to them. They said send it in once more, if not fixed "THIS' time they will replace. I notice on the order confirmation it says "replace" this time. I had it escalated to casemanager, obviously she was an american.

WeAreNotAlone, are you referring to ordering the CTO from the China website of HP, or are you just making reference to the fact that the CTO's ordered on in the U.S. come from China? Asking because I was not use if there would be a price difference?

Also, do you know if you can get Business Notebook models (nc8430) through Costco?

Btw, you can buy the extended warranty at any time after purchase...you don't have to buy it within 14 days or something. I am most likely going to buy a 2-year extended warranty starting ~june 1st when I do my summer travels as 'til then, it's just sitting safely on my dining room table...I figured I could stretch my dollars a bit that way....

I think the most important thing to remember about a standard warranty is that it does not cover accidents (such as drops, spills, *any*thing that could be argued was the result of anything the user does).
