I just got this on Tuesday. I have asked about battery life and I my fully charged 6 cell still only indicated 2:30 hours. All of the reviews that I have read in PC Magazine and CNET indicate 4 hours on newly charged battery. Battery life is one of the reasons that I bought this machine based on all of the reviews. I recalibrated the battery when I received the laptop as per HP's instructions and at that time the fully charged battery (98%) only showed 2:05 hours. It also gets quite warm on the bottom and the left palm rest after 30 minutes or so. Not unbearable but still very warm. And, last night, after using it for 2 hours on ac power, I noticed that the rectangle part of the ac converter was extremely hot. Is this normal? I am afraid that the ac converter could cause a fire. Should I return or exchange this laptop? I have the 715 centrino chip with a 80 gig harddrive. I was getting 3 hours out of a brand new battery on my old Dell 4150 laptop with Pentium 4. I thought the battery was supposed to last longer with centrino. I love the screen and wireless and weight of the dv1000. Is it just something wrong with mine? Thanks.

I do think something is wrong, when a laptop with a Pentium 4 gets battery life better than one with Centrino, something is seriously wrong. I think you'd better get a replacement maybe? It stinks to get a lemon, I'm sorry for your misfortune, I hope your next model will be better.
