Does anybody know whether or not the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9000 CPU is supported on a HP Pavilion DV6 1220sb notebook?

The motherboard is identified by CPU-Z as a Quanta 3628 18.37. Intel Chipset is PM45.

I currently have an Intel Dual-Core T4200 CPU and I want to replace it with the Q9000.

Normally it should work but God knows for what reason HP has made sure that it doesn't work by restricting it in the BIOS or God knows where.

I doubt it will work because AFAIK HP never shipped a Quad in the dv6 till now with the i7 which needless to say has a different board. Even if you did get it to work you would PROBABLY have to go over to a 120watt AC adapter, depending on the graphics chip you have in the unit. Honestly you should either be looking at a new unit, or at the very least a more modest CPU upgrade. I would say go with a T9600, it would be supported by your board and shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. Is it going to be as fast as a quad for everything, no, but you will definitely see an advantage over your Pentium Dual core.
