I saw one of these today and thought it looked quite good for a travel-friendly laptop. Couldn't find in on the HP US website, but it's on sale in Australia.

Cost is around $AUD3000 (about $US2250), which is on the high side tho it's probably comparable to others of its size.

Would be interested to get opinions / comparisons.

BTW - great forum - my first post here.

Hmmm... maybe, but the screen is smaller and it's 20% or more lighter than the V2000 and has a faster processor. I'm wondering about the battery as it's only 6 cell, whether it will last more than a couple of hours.

It most probably should last somewhere around ~2.5 - 3hrs since the V2000 with the Pentium M & 14" screen(6 cell) lasts that long.

Well, I went ahead and bought this little notebook and am using it now. So far am very impressed. When I get back home I might write more about it. It's so light, looks gorgeous, great keypad, great (tiny) size, fast, powerful, all the connectivity features I need plus more and I got a great deal at Officeworks (they matched the cheapest internet price plus shipping). It's probably on par or better than the Fujitsu litebook or sony vaio I've been reading about only cheaper and maybe lighter. The only thing that's missing seems to be advanced security features like fingerprint recognition - but I've never needed that before so can't think I'll miss it.

Works perfectly with my iBurst wireless internet connection.

At the risk of repeating myself, I'm really impressed with the keyboard - have had absolutely no problems with typing even though the notebook is so small (12" screen). And the small screen is no problem as it's got the same widescreen resolution as my older 15" notebook - 1280x764. And I like the brightscreen after all, it's not too reflective or glary at all, just looks great. Much prefer all the connections on the side, as they are (except for the vga port and svideo, which are perfect on the back) - it means I can use it anywhere including really small spaces without the usb drive getting bent.

And it's so light - lovely - too perfect!!!
