My friend has dv3t and I love it. Screen is bright, colors are true and beautiful, processor is strong, has a dvd drive, a dedicated GPU and best of all - it has a keyboard backlight and a fingerprint reader. Now dm3t has none of these. Well, I have seen the screen on a demo unit, and its colors and luminosity is definitely not as rich as on dv3t and I dont know much about the strength of its processor, but it sure has a better battery life and it sure is light in weight. With many things not as superior as dv3t and some things totally striped off, is dm3t rightfully as good as dv3t? I have my doubts, and since I was going to order dv3t soon, and since its gone from the HP's site now, I am disappointed. If I wanted a stripped notebook, then I will go for a netbook. I dont know what HP was thinking while creating a notebook ridiculously expensive (talking about envy) and other ridiculously stripped off features and still keep it in notebook category rather than netbook.
So I wanted to ask people who have used it, and who probably are heavy users , how do you like dm3t? Do you miss few things missing from the body? My only hope - HP would up the features in its next replacement of 13 inch notebook and refrain from experimenting with preposterous pricing...

IMHO, they're different machines and HP shouldn't have discontinued the DV3T. The DM3T is more of a replacement for the DV2.
That said, the SP9300 is pretty powerful. The only thing some may miss is the disc drive and the backlit keyboard.
You can check through the owner's thread; most are happy with it, and honestly the dis drive isn't something I would miss. I barely use the one on my laptop now. -
IMO, the DM3 crushes the DV3. It has way better battery life, significantly better, talking at least double the battery life. Runs a lot cooler, and I do mean a lot cooler. Quieter obviously.
Hard drive wise it's the same...although the DM3 offers the SSD, so it gets the nod there.
GPU wise same, 105m.
Memory, it's using DDR3 so it wins there.
CPU wise... the DV3T could have had with the 2.53GHZ cpu.. but the DM3s has double the cache. I mean, I doubt you would be able to notice a difference, and barely any even in benchmarks.
It's also a lot slimmer.
Really, as was said, only thing the DV3 has over the DM3 is the backlit keyboard and a disc drive. Screw the disc drive. And the backlit kb.. well. I'll take the battery life, cool temps, skinny chassis over it...
Personally? I think it's smart they canceled the DV3. Why buy the DV3 when you can have the DM3? For the DVD drive? lolz.
OH and about the screens... they get LCDs from a lot of different companies... so that's a crapshoot really. One might have one from LG the other from Quanta or whatever....get 2 DM3s or DV3s, and odds are they won't have teh same panel. -
Is dm3t as good as dv3t?
